ABOUT THE CAPE FEAR MUSEUM --- Founded in 1898, the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is the oldest history museum in North Carolina. The oldest items in the collection are Native American artifacts from the Archaic period (8000 BCE to 1000 BCE).
